So, half a year or more has passed since my last post… This is only a short note to say I’m back… Expect exciting stuff in future…
A strange week, but the best is yet to come… June 5, 2007
The past week most certainly ranks high on my top 10 strangest week lists… It certainly felt like one of the longest weeks I’ve had in a very long time.
First my roommate put me on the spot by revealing she knows my secret… she knows which guy I like… clearly I’m not as good at hiding my feelings as I thought I was…
Secondly my friend, Bettie, and I went to see two movies on two consecutive nights (which I don’t think I’ve ever done) of which the one was a total waste of time and the other one was so amazing that I sent an sms to my whole phonebook to try and get people to go see it…
Thirdly I watched a Will Farrell movie (upon my roomies insistance)… I’ve never really been a huge fan of his… but his kind of funny in a really stupid way… no offence…
Also, a few old friends have made contact again… quite nice to hear from them… didn’t expect it at all…
And finally, a good friend of mine’s father passed away yesterday. It’s sad. I’m going to miss him. He was such a good man, with such a good heart. I can’t imagine losing my father, especially not at this age. I can’t even start to imagine what she and her mom and brother are going through…
I hope your week has kept you going, and that the week ahead holds many a good thing for you and your loved ones!
By this time next week I’ll be very close to my final destination… London, England… I can’t wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I survived!! May 26, 2007
I actually came out of this week alive! Although I should add that I took Thursday and Friday off just to recover after the 3 back to back tests… Went to see Pirates 3 yesterday. Now I don’t know about you, but Pirates 2 wasn’t the best ever in my opinion. But Pirates 3 – now there’s a good movie if ever I’ve seen one! It was awesome!
So the week ahead holds two tests – one on Tuesday and one on Friday – and lunch with my gay friend (which is always interesting, to say the least).
Be good, have fun and remember to always dance in the rain!
A hectic week ahead May 19, 2007
I know it’s been a while since my last post… my semester tests start on Tuesday, and I’ve been studying like a crazy person… I’m writing Financial Accountin at 19:00 on Tuesday, Private Law at 09:00 on Wednesday, and Statistics at 09:00 on Thursday, and that’s only the first week…
Other than that life’s been good… although it’s raining and cold… the winter has officially reached Stellenbosch… it’s a nice change from the sweltering summer heat, but the wetness of it all really does get to me…
Anywho, may this coming week be one to remember – in any way you wish… Make the most of it, it won’t come around again, I promiss… and if it doesn’t go well, don’t sweat…
Another favourite of mine… May 2, 2007
The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I–
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I always do!
All alone April 28, 2007
So today I’m all alone in a town that is usually bursting at the seams with students and such like. It is a long weekend in South Africa – we had a public holiday yesterday and there’s another one coming up on Tuesday, so everyone went home for the weekend… everyoen except me and one or two other random people in res. I could have easily flewn home, but it’s too difficult this weekend at home. My parents are attending a wedding and the fact that we have lectures on Monday just made it that much more difficult to go home.
Although it is quite nice to be alone. I can sort out myself… you know, get my room back into a liveable state (actually, I’m much neater than I expected I would be) and do some interior decorating… the walls are a bit blah at the moment.
Also, there’s washing to do and one or two projects and work pieces, etc that need to be completed, so I think I’ll enjoy the quiet time!
To all of you out there, anyone who’s reading this… I would love to read your coments or visit your blogs, so please drop me a line…
And to all you students: I hope you have the time of your life… I know I sure am…
For all the One Tree Hill fans out there April 15, 2007
Oh my word!! I cannot believe we have to wait until the 2nd of May to see what happens in the next episode… Poor Peyton… she’s my favourite character after Naley…
I’m not one for spoilers, so I’ll just have to wait patiently to find out what happens, but I’m sure it’s going to be hectic!
I’m a huge fan, by the way. I think it’s the best teen drama out there today. The lessons learned are unbelievably close to home and it’s a very realistic show.
To anyone who doesn’t know what I’m talking about…do yourself a favour and check it out… I doubt you’ll be disappointed!
cheers
LIFE CAN GET YOU DOWN…but just get back up April 10, 2007
It has been a while… I went home last week for the first time in three months… It was great to be back with the people I love! I spent a whole week with my family, first at home and then in the Cape on holiday… We had such a great time! But a week is too short to really unwind. However, I think it’s a good thing that I didn’t see them for too long otherwise it would have been too hard to return to Stellenbosch…
I’ve got an assignment for tomorrow and I’m really not in the mood to do it, but it’s one of those things that cannot be ignored.
Sorry for the short entry. I hope to write more often in the coming weeks.
Smile – it gives your face something to do!
Quotes…again… March 16, 2007
-
Early to rise, early to bed, makes a man healthy but socially dead. (Anamaniacs)
- Faithless is he who quits when the road darkens.(J.R.R. Tolkien, Lord of the Rings)
Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans. (John Lennon)

IF Rudyard Kippling
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream---and not make dreams your master;
If you can think---and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:.
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings---nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And---which is more---you'll be a Man, my son!
